How the matching methodology works
The finder compares your lifestyle preferences with reviewed information about typical cat breed tendencies.
What the quiz considers
The questions cover living space, time alone, children and other pets, activity, affection, vocal tolerance, grooming, ownership experience, size, and coat preference.
How matching is designed
Evidence-backed direct traits are separated from runtime compatibility rules. Unknown or inapplicable dimensions are removed from the effective denominator rather than assigned an average. Welfare exclusions and high-confidence care conflicts are applied independently from preference points. The scoring process is deterministic and runs on the server, so changing browser code cannot reveal or alter a complete result.
Data review
The current production dataset covers 24 cat breeds. Every populated scoring or report field records a source, tier, scope, confidence, review date, and reviewer. Behaviour research identified as cat breed-group evidence is not presented as a precise prediction for an individual cat. Compatibility points are not scientific probabilities.
Welfare and care
Some types are excluded under documented welfare evidence or a clearly labelled conservative BestCatForMe policy. Caution profiles remain rankable, but their care and welfare notes stay prominent and can cap a result when they conflict with care a user can provide.
